Haffina Creations

Thought I would put out a quick mention for one of our longest standing members Haffina Creations who has been a member of the forum since 4 days after we started. It’s been a pleasure having Haffina as a member. Her service to the forum and handmade has shown me and I’m sure others that helping each other will get you a long way. Anyway I know this post is short and sweet but Haffina has truly touched Kimberly’s and my heart.

Spread the Love! A HAF Team Promotional Game

The Handmade Artist Forum Etsy Team (HAF Team) has been playing this promotional game with its members for about 3 months now. Every week seven member shops are chosen randomly (one for each day) and informed that they will be featured.

Then late every night we post a link in the general forum (under What’s Happening with the HAF Team) and post the next day’s shop. Both Forum members and guests are then encouraged to visit the shop.

Team members are encouraged to “heart” the shop and choose a favorite item to post on our forum thread and an ongoing thread in the etsy forums.
 
We also ask team members to help promote the shop of the day by sharing the link on Twitter, Plurk, Facebook, MySpace, Stumbleupon, personal blogs and any other social media that we know of.
Everyone does what they can and that shop has a day of extra exposure and hopefully sales!

We are now starting a weekly blog post here on the forum that’s sure to make this game a little more interesting!
 
So if you want to play, you’re welcome to jump in anywhere. If you’re a bit over whelmed start with one site, our public thread is a good place to start. Pick a favorite item from the shop of the day and post it there, then you can follow the links to the etsy threads and post there too.

These are just options, do a little – do a lot. Whatever you’re comfortable with. Every little bit helps!

My parents instilled in me the importance of being “handy.” Mom taught me how to sew, install a toilet, embroider, knit and crochet. My dad taught me how to tar a roof, make necklaces and bracelets, how to spackle and put up dry wall. We are a very crafty family and I want to share that with other people.

I’ll be featuring those skills (guess which ones!) in the items I list in my etsy shop.  Proud member of  the EtsyNJ and HAF street teams.

One of our wonderful members, ToraJewelry is so multi-talented!  She offered to share with you a pattern that she created for this darling summer dress!  In addition to this darling piece, Torajewelry is an amazing chainmaille artist.  Please check out her Etsy shop and prepare to be amazed.

Baby Girl’s Summer Dress
I used an I hook and worsted weight yarn
I used caron simply soft
Gauge: 12 tr and 3 rows = 4in
Size: 6-9 mo

Skirt:
chain 60 join with slip st
Row 1: ch 2, sk st, ch 1, *hdc, ch 1, sk st. Repeat from * around join to top of ch 2 with slip st
Row 2-7: ch 4 tr each st around join with slip st to top of ch 4

Ruffle:
Row 1: ch 1 sc around join with slip st to top of ch1
Row 2: *hdc, 2hdc in next st, repeat from * around, join
Row 3: 2 tr in each st around join and fasten off.

Top:
start in any stitch at top of skirt join with slip st.
Row 1: ch 3, *dc next 2 st tog, dc in next st, repeat from * around join. 40 st remaining
Row 2-3: ch 3 dc in each st around join.
Row 4: slip st 8 st, ch 3 dc next 3 st, *ch 2, sk next 2 st, dc next 4 st, repeat from star once more, turn
Row 5: ch 5, sk 2 st, * dc next st, 2dc in ch2-sp, dc next st, ch 2, sk 2 st, repeat from star once more, ch 2, sk 2 st, dc in last st, turn
Row 6: ch 3, 2dc in ch2-sp, dc next st, *ch 2, sk 2 st, dc, 2dc in ch2-sp, dc, repeat from star once more, turn
Row 7: same as row 5 fasten off repeat rows 4-7 omitting slp st in row four. I just put 4 st between front and back same as for top

Straps:
ch40 attaching to each corner of top

Belt:
ch 103, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc across fasten off and weave through row 1 of skirt
