you are doing a great job! you've got your own style even being a painter not so long. I'm still looking for my style and I do art seriously for about 8 years.
So well done!! I love it!

Nancy this may sound strange - but I'm going to suggest that you NOT take an oil painting class unless you want your style to change!!! This is completely opposite of what I would normally tell people as I do highly recomend letting styles evolve - but you've obviously already hit on something good!
If you just want to know technique of how to work with oils, get a book - or go to your local art supply store (not a hobby store) and ask them about mediums to use with oil paints.  I do have one suggestion, and people may argue w/me about this but do NOT use the "fume free" paint thinner - it still produces toxic fumes, you just can't smell them - making it easier for you to get overloaded with the fumes - and do be sure to have lots of ventilation when painting w/oils

I guess it all depends on where you want to take your art - if you really want to develop your skills in making things look more dimensional then I'd suggest a drawing class if you haven't taken one - but that will probably make your style change too.   These are great!

I am (was trained as) a visual artist, and I really can't offer any constructive criticism. You're doing everything right. As someone who is self-taught that's incredible, and you've already sold a print!

What I like: the quasi folk art quality, standing midway between realism and representation (photo like work vs work that more suggests the subjects), your bold images, the colors you have chosen in relationship to each other; your compositions are very good. Keep at it!

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions!

Concerning painting styles, I made the following choice....for my whimsical artwork I am going to continue working in acrylics. They seem to work well for what I'm creating and where I'm heading...so far!

If you'll indulge me just once more, I'd like to share my first completed oil painting with you. The first pic is a photo I took about 5 years ago. The second is my oil interpretation!  Introducing Myrtle the Turtle!

The cows remind me of the cows in the commercials they are playing here for the dairy cow spokesperson contest in California...  I am SURE the Minnesota cow is in that image!  lol

I think Myrtle is a cutie!
