I’m going to make an attempt to put together some frequently asked questions here about the blog.
First I think it is necessary to say the entire HAF Community is made up of three distinct sites with three separate logins.
There is the Blog, Forum, and Shop, if you are ever unsure which site you are on just look at the banner. Each banner starts out with Handmade Artists and then says either forum, blog or shop. For frequently asked questions about the HAFshop please click here FAQ HAFshop
Now to some frequently asked questions for the blog, if you don’t see the answer you are looking for just contact us.
- Can I write a blog post and have it published here?
- Yes you can. To write a post you must be a registered member. On the bottom left of the blog you will see Register, once you register and login, scroll back down to the bottom and hit Site Admin. You are then directed to the backend of the HAFblog where on the left hand side you will see posts. Click or hover over the word post and hit Add New. After you write you post hit submit, your post will then go into moderation. Once it gets checked by a moderator your work will be published! If there are any issues with your post you will be contacted by a moderator or site Admin.
- Can I join the new Community Feature?
- Yes you can. The community feature is like a micro-blogging platform. If you hit the Community Tab you will see the current activity.
- I see there are groups in the Community, can I make one?
- Yes you can! Just click the Groups tab under Community and hit Create a Group. A word about groups… this site is dedicated to suppoting handmade, with that said, please keep that in mind when creating groups. If you want to create a group about something other than handmade, please use the contact us form to request permission, some social groups will be permitted, so just ask.
- What kind of links can I add?
- For the most part you can add any links you want, but please keep in mind the goal of this site is supporting handmade. So please use your better judgment.
- How do I add photos to my Album?
- You should see a black tool bar on the very top of the site, just click on Albums and hit upload pic.
- What kind of pictures can I post?
- Keeping in mind, once again that the goal of this site is supporting handmade, please upload your handmade creations. This site is also dedicated to creating community as well amongst our members, so we will permit personal life photos as well. Just remember that you can control permissions of who can see your personal pictures so please keep any age inappropriate pictures private or share with your friends only. This a family site so any mature pictures should not be set as public.
- How do I integrate with Facebook and Twitter?
- On the black bar on the top of the site hover over account and scroll down to settings and over to Facestream for Facebook and Tweetstream for twitter respectively. You will see all the options within the respective tabs, you can configure each of these to post your updates here on Twitter and Facebook. You can also configure it the other way where your tweets and facebook posts will be added here to your activity stream.
- Can I get a badge that links to my profile here, so I can put it on my blog?
- Yes from the black bar again, scroll down to profile then over to badge and click on badge. The default badge is our blog badge, but the code is set up to link directly to your profile.
- Is there RSS feed I can grab from the Community Activity?
- Yes, the link is here http://handmadeartistsforum.com/activity/feed/ there are also various feeds available that you can choose from.
- I see the HAF Gallery tab on the green navigation bar, how do I get my pictures there?
- The HAF Gallery pulls in the feed from our flickr group. The HAF Forum flickr group is for forum members only, so if you are member go to the flickr HAF Forum Group and request to join.
