Take the “Ten-Second” Challenge at GrandpaToys’ Shop

Last Updated on Thursday, 11 March 2010 04:42 Written by GrandpaToys Thursday, 11 March 2010 11:11

At GrandpaToys, we take “Ceramic-Induced Smiles” pretty seriously.  So, here’s the challenge: Check out my Finger Faces and Mezuzahs.  If you don’t crack a smile in the first ten seconds, you probably won’t need another ten seconds.

So, once you’ve smiled at their silliness, what does one DO with a Finger Face?

I used my first Finger Face to distract my 10-month old grandson while feeding him.

Feel like giving someone — anyone — EVERYONE — a finger? Make it your pointer finger and pop a Finger Face on top. Don’t just show people a dirty fingernail. Make a statement! And, make a different statement with whatever Finger Face you choose.

Let others know what you’re thinking without having to say a word! Pick the Finger Face which best matches your mood.

One woman ordered two custom Finger Faces resembling herself; she gave them as gifts to far off friends so she’d always be “near at hand”.

Each one-of-a-kind Finger Face includes a card telling you his (or her) name and a little something about him (or her).  Don’t think the name and story suits him?  Do what I do:  Pop him onto your finger and just stare at him until he tells you his name.  Unless I’m the ONLY one they talk to…

One commonly finds a mezuzah holding a specific prayer attached to the right side, exterior (and interior) doorframes of Jewish homes.

As with my Finger Faces, several of my mezuzahs reflect my somewhat offbeat sense of humor. I like to think that, as long as the prayer is there, God has a sense of humor about the case which holds it.

For example, I don’t know about you, but I saw Cecil B. DeMille’s epic “The Ten Commandments” for the first time when I was a kid. It made a BIG impact on me. When I created this particular mezuzah, I wanted an instantly recognizable “heavenly messenger” to hold the prayer.

    Thanks for your time…

    Jewelry by NaLa

The artistic/creative side of my brain is dominant, and I have the math skills to back me up on that! I’m just a natural born crafter. Jewelry making is not my first venture into the world of crafting, but it is definitely my favorite. I think my customers want their jewelry to make a unique statement about themselves and enhance their own personal sense of style. My jewelry is designed with that in mind. Aside from my ready made collection, I also love the challenge of creating jewelry specific to individual tastes, and I’ve been known to “tweak” existing pieces in my collection into custom ordered designs. All someone has to do is tell me what they have in mind, and I will work together with them to see if we can come up with exactly what they’re looking for. I love making people happy like that. Here are a few examples of my work. If you’d like to see more, please consider visiting my Etsy shop: http://jewerlybyNaLa.etsy.com

    Buddingcreations on Etsy

Last Updated on Tuesday, 9 March 2010 10:55 Written by buddingcreations Tuesday, 9 March 2010 10:04

Hi, My name is Danielle . I have been a bead artist since I was 18 years old (6 years). I found my passion for beaded flowers when i came across someone selling them on ebay and I had to know more. So, I did alot of research and bought alot of books to show me how. Now I am an avid beader. I love creating new patterns and ideas and pushing the limits as to what I can do with them. My mother, who passed away in 2000 from lung cancer was a big part of my descision to create these flowers. She had a huge passion for real flowers and spent the majority of her days outside tending to her garden.  I never had the talent she did at growing the real thing but being the creative type I now have the ability to make flowers that will never wilt or die . So now every time I make a new flower it reminds me of the love and care my mom once had for her flowers and for me!

Bouquet made using glass seed beads and wire rose made using glass seed beads and wire hyacinth made using glass seed beads and wire

All of my pieces are heirloom quality! Each piece must be strung and then sculpted to form each petal . then those petals must be attached in just the right way to create a life-like flower. I put alot of time into every piece that I make. Everything in my shop is fully customizable, so you will get exactly what you want at an affordable price!

So stop on by my shop and have a look around! Remember custom orders are always welcome.

What on earth is a Fizzy Bath Bar?

Last Updated on Tuesday, 9 March 2010 04:46 Written by ReefBotanicals Tuesday, 9 March 2010 04:46

Well, at Reef Botanicals, they’re just like bath bombs you see from other suppliers, only we like to think they’re prettier because of the way we mold them.

Romance: scented like roses, made pink with raspberry, and luxurious with cocoa butter!

They work exactly the same, though, and to illustrate that, we’ve created a video to show you how they’re used!

The video: Fizzy Bath Bars (Bath Bombs)

It’s funny, because I hadn’t thought that they might be confusing… which is odd, considering the fact that before I made these, I’d never used one! Now I adore them!

Serenity: scented with lavender and rosemary.

Although they can look similar, these aren’t soap.  They’re used purely for the luxury of it.  The essential oils in them are released as the bars dissolve and fizz, and the scents fill your bathroom.  I tend to stay in the bath until the water is cold and I’m all pruney, but I don’t want to lose a minute of use out of them!

Awaken: scented with sweet orange, lemongrass, and eucalyptus

Check out Reef Botanicals to buy them and other handcrafted bath items, or read more at the Reef Botanicals Blog.  As with all of Reef Botanicals’ products, these bath bars are made from all natural ingredients, never synthetics.

Even the Romance bath bar is colored using dehydrated raspberry rather than synthetic color.  The creamy color of the Serenity bar comes from Yellow Kaolin Clay, a luxury used in spas.  And the green specks in the Awaken bars are sea kelp, also found in spas around the world.
